This is one of the serious events of the year for blacks-African-Americans world-wide. This event is not played up by the media but we here at Kemra seek to uplift it, and keep our community well informed.
This event is celebrated here and around the world as a Memorial to our Ancestors of the Atlantic Slave Trade.
Those; the pure in heart- that didn't want to become a slave to this country,
Each year on this day at 1:00 pm many go to their nearest harbor taking roses, flowers and other objects and reflect on this time and moment in history Reflection on their "state of mind" and their feeling about being ripped apart from their land, language and family.
To Reverence the Spirit of our Ancestors is a tradition that goes back to Africa.
We give homage to "Our Ancestors Fighting Spirit" in prayer, and to let them know we shall never forget what they have been through.
We right now have the "Unique Opportunity" to spread the word to our families, friends and neighbors. And be present in "Full" representatio.n of our distant relatives.
Please join: let us come together doesn't cost a thing just your participation. :-)
Juneteenth Celebration - 2009
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, two months after the surrender of General Lee and more than two years after Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, General Granger of the Union Army landed in Galveston, Texas and issued General Order No. 3 . . . ALL SLAVES ARE FREE . . .
