Both Ishango bone as well as Lebombo finds are both from the continent of Africa.
Although some scholars claim that Ishango bone was first used by a woman to calculate a woman lunar menstrual cycle I beg to differ it was first used by a woman. ------ The Lebombo bone is the oldest known mathematical artifact .
It dates from 35,000 BC and consists of 29 distinct notches that were deliberately cut into a baboon 's fibula .
It was discovered within the Border Cave in the Lebombo Mountains of Swaziland .
The Lebombo bone resembles the calendar sticks still used by Bushmen in Namibia .
The Ishango bone is a similar artifact found in the Congo region , dated to about 20,000 BC.
