The Egyptian army marches on the wall of Ramses III main temple walls at Medinet Habu. Battle scenes on temple walls were most often real conflicts. The mystery of the infamous Sea people, changed the ancient world drastically. Despite their profound impact on history. The Sea People thought they would destroy cities and take over. By the end of the 13th century BCE, the Sea People had swarmed acoss the eastern Mediterranean, burning and plundering everything in their path. They destroyed every city, temple, palace and town that stood in their path. Word reached Ramses III that the Sea People were on the move again., and this time it was Egypt they intend to crush. Ramses tells on the walls of his mortuary temple, "they were c oming forward towards Egypt, while the flame was prepared before them". Normally, high trained soldiers would not be afraid ,but the Egyptians believed this motley mob had already defeated the land of the Hitties and land of Cypru,s and that they intended to rule the world! Meanwhile in Aegean...... The Mycenaean and Minoan civilizations collapsed at the same time, perhaps at the hands of the same Sea People. These ancient pirates went about causing havock and tearing up cities. Who were they? Where did they come from? What drove them out? Where did they finally ended up remains a mystery. www.touregypt.net/featurestories/seapeople.htm

Picture of Ramses III.... killing prisoners are carved on the walls of his temples. Depicting of the King's conquest, displayed where everyone could see them. Seems this was not the first time the Sea People attacked Egypt. Under another King but they wasn't successful. Egyptian seamen used their oars to manuever the warships even closer. They tossed their grappling hooks into the Sea People vessels. When the hooks took hold, Egyptians heaved on the lines, capsizing their vessels. The Egyptians were victorious in defeating the Sea People. In the victory scene at mortuary temple, we see a pile of several hands presented to Ramses III. The Vizer counted everything- hands, spoils, prisoners- for an official report. Ma'at had conquered chaos. The battle of the Sea People had been won! Their hearts and souls are finished for all eternity. Their weapons are scattered at sea.
